International NGO Safety Organisation

Launch of INSO’s online Training in French

[The Hague, 20 May 2025] – The INSO course Safety Management for NGOs is now available in French.

Initially launched in English in September 2024, this course is designed for humanitarian workers who hold – or aspire to hold – responsibilities related to safety and security. It has already been completed by over 1,600 participants.

This course is highly interactive, combining videos, practical exercises, content, and AI-powered learning tools that provide dynamic, personalized feedback to participants.

Developed by humanitarians for humanitarians, this 4-hour, fully free course covers the essential skills of NGO security management and helps security focal points update and use their organisation’s safety management tools.

Thanks to this course, participants will be able to:

Apply humanitarian principles to access challenges

Identify and address humanitarian dilemmas as a team

Contribute to context analysis and lead participatory security risk assessments

Define appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contingency plans

Manage and analyse a security incident

Accessible to everyone, everywhere, this course also offers a valuable opportunity for students and professionals looking to enter the humanitarian sector, as well as for donor staff supporting humanitarian projects in the field.

Félicie Chevallier, INSO’s Training Director, notes:
“For INSO, this initiative is also a way to support humanitarians in regions where we do not offer in-person training. Moreover, by encouraging universities, NGOs, and donors to integrate the course into their internal and academic programmes, we help broaden the reach of essential NGO safety management practices.”

This free course is hosted on DisasterReady.org, a learning platform offering over 1,500 courses, designed to strengthen the skills of humanitarian and development professionals globally.

The course was developed with the support of the Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
