At the end of 2024, the authorities revoked INSO’s authorisation to provide services in Niger. In full compliance with that revocation, INSO has suspended all services to NGO partners and completed the closure of all offices across the country.

Whilst we have sought to engage authorities on this matter, to date, no formal explanation has been provided as to the reasons behind this revocation. We remain committed to continued engagement with all relevant authorities that may enable the resumption of services in the future.

INSO’s work around the world is based on strict adherence to the humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence. As a humanitarian NGO, we maintain a strict independence from any and all political objectives and seek to work transparently with all relevant authorities to enable the delivery of our services to our partners. INSO has been working in Niger since 2020, providing support to over 132 humanitarian organisations, including 35 national and local NGOs, enabling the safe delivery of humanitarian aid across the country.

We are aware that our withdrawal will create a gap in support for the humanitarian community in Niger, and we are exploring all ways in which we can continue to support the humanitarian community moving forward.

We take the opportunity to thank our partners and donors for their continued support of INSO’s mission to improve the safety of humanitarians.
