NSP Somalia joins INSO

As of 1 April 2015, the NGO Safety Program (NSP) in Somalia has been transferred from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) to INSO.

This represents the first transfer of an already existing NGO safety platform and we at INSO look forward to seeing what developments NSP will bring to the NGO safety coordination sector and to the INSO model.

The decision to transfer was taken by DRC, NSP leadership & Steering Committee and INSO in order to move the project on to the next stage of development and offers NSP the opportunity for sustainable growth within an organisation that is specifically designed for that purpose.

NSP has been operating in Somalia since 2004 and continues to be enormously successful and appreciated. At INSO, it will become further integrated into a global safety coordination network and gain the opportunity to both contribute to, and learn from, the best practice in the sector.

Looking ahead, in close coordination with the steering committees and partners, INSO and NSP will be working hard to bring the best of both models together to improve products, services and capacities in support of humanitarian action on both sides of the Somalia/Kenya border.
